Monte routs Rochester, 54-19

Bulldogs remain undefeated

ROCHESTER — Carson Klinger ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns as Montesano routed Rochester in a non-league game on Sept. 22 at Rochester.

Trevor Ridgway passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten in four starts. Ridgway, who passed for 132 yards, did not attempt a second-half throw as Montesano led 41-13 at intermission.

Kooper Karaffa was on the receiving end of a 50-yard Ridgway scoring pass and also intercepted two passes. He returned one 35 yards for Montesano’s final touchdown.

Klinger scored on runs of 13 and 15 yards. Ridgway’s 6-yard scoring run, with 3:47 remaining in the first quarter, put the Bulldogs ahead to stay at 14-7.

Ridgway’s 40-yard scoring pass to Kobe Gallinger with four seconds remaining in the first half closed out the first half.

Sam Winter’s 28-yard run and Teegan Zillyett’s 25-yard run, both in the second quarter, accounted for Montesano’s other TDs. Jordan King kicked six conversions.

Bulldog coach Terry Jensen, while giving his club decent marks overall, was nettled by a few mistakes (including two lost fumbles).

“Overall, it was a good performance, but we have some things to clean up,” Jensen said.

Karaffa, Jared Wallace and Ben Sowers were among Monte’s defensive standouts.

The Bulldogs open Evergreen 1A League play Friday at Forks.
