Monte natives win National Senior Games awards

Three members of Monte High Class of 1967 return victorious from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Three members of the Montesano High School Class of 1967 recently returned from the National Senior Games in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Becki and Joe Sackrider, of Bay Center, took second place in the shuffleboard competition for 70-74-year-olds. Cynthia Crisp, of Montesano, took seventh in singles in the same age group. The competition was last month at the Albuquerque convention center.

“It was a bitter-sweet competition for me,” said Crisp, who recently lost her mother, who was meant to be her doubles partner. But she says that taking seventh in singles must have meant her mom was looking out for her. All three graduated from Monte High together and showed their friendship during a brief interview July 9, laughing and telling jokes.
