MONTESANO — Sam Winter scored 18 points as Montesano beat Onalaska in a non-league makeup game on Jan. 6 at Bo Griffith Memorial Gym.

The heavily favored Bulldogs (10-2) trailed 14-12 after one quarter. Monte coach Doug Galloway conceded that his team might have experienced difficulty adapting to Onalaska’s traditional ultra-deliberate offense.

Winter also contributed five rebounds and four steals. L.J. Valley chipped in with 17 points and five assists, while Trevor Ridgway had 11 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs. Seth Dierkop grabbed seven rebounds.

The Bulldogs hosted rival Elma on Wednesday. Results were not available when The Vidette went to press.

TENINO — Montesano’s boys held Tenino to single-digit scoring in all four quarters on their way to dominating road victory over Tenino.

Winter had a big night and came away with a game-high 14 points, along with six assists.

Donovan Albert didn’t score but came up big on the glass to lead the team with seven rebounds in the victory.

Monte head coach Doug Galloway was able to get all of his players some time on the floor and liked how both units played.
