Monte boys, girls show well at Ocosta Invite

Mark Morris wins boys meet, Forks sweeps top five places to win girls title

WESTPORT — Montesano’s boys and girls each placed second in the Ocosta Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Class 2A Mark Morris won the boys meet with 54 points, 15 ahead of the runner-up Bulldogs.

Forks swept the top five places to run away with the girls title. Montesano was the only other school fielding a complete team.

Raymond’s Jachin Heckman was the top Twin Harbors finisher, placing fifth in the boys race. Montesano’s Braden Stowers took eighth.

Willapa Valley’s Amber Anderson led the Twin Harbors girls contingent with a seventh-place finish.

Mark Morris’ Kameron Werner and Forks’ Enid Ensastegui took individual honors.

Capital Invite

OLYMPIA — Aberdeen’s Faith Cardenas finished 15th in her classification in the gigantic Capital Invitational meet Saturday.

Competing in the Senior Girls division, Cardenas was clocked in 15:52.75. Ellie Summers of Northwest Christian of Lacey won the event in 14:20.36.

Aberdeen’s Dayln Barragan was 52nd among 121 runners in the Senior Boys Division.
