Monte blanks Elma in rival baseball

Nate Kloempken throws a one-hitter

Montesano’s Nate Kloempken threw a one-hitter to help lift the Bulldogs over rival Elma in an Evergreen 1A League game at Vessey Field on April 15. Monte won 10-0.

The Bulldogs (4-0, 4-2) put up five runs in the second inning to break the game open, while Kloempken kept the Eagles off the bases.

Evan Bates hit a 2-run home run in the second and Noah Quinn came up with a 2-run double. Quinn finished the game with four hits.

“Overall, it was another solid day at the plate, but there were some base running miscues to clean up,” Montesano head coach Mike Osgood said. “I was pleased with the focus and energy.”
