Loss to Chehalis followed by come-from-behind win in Tumwater

Bulldogs 3, T-Birds 2

TUMWATER — Braden Dohrmann’s run-scoring single in the seventh inning gave Montesano a come-from-behind win over Tumwater in a non-league game on March 19 at Tumwater.

The Bulldogs (2-1) capitalized on a huge break in the seventh. With his team trailing 2-1, Kobe Gallinger scored all the way from first base when the T-Birds dropped Aaron Lano’s two-out outfield fly.

Dohrmann followed with the game-winning hit up the middle. Ben Wills, who relieved starter Nate Kloempken in the bottom of the seventh, worked a scoreless inning to pick up the save.

Kloempken was working on a no-hitter before an error opened the door for a two-run Tumwater sixth inning.

“Kloempken pitched a heck of a game,” Montesano coach Mike Osgood said. “We were fortunate to get out of there with a victory, for sure.”

Osgood also cited Wills for his relief work and Lano for outfield defense.

Bearcats 5, Bulldogs 0

CHEHALIS — Perennial Class 2A power Chehalis limited Montesano to five hits in a non-league contest Friday at Chehalis.

Teegan Zillyett doubled and singled for the Bulldogs, but Monte otherwise had a difficult time catching up with the hard-throwing Bearcat hurlers.

”It was definitely an improvement from Monday’s game,” coach Osgood said.

Osgood also cited the pitching of Evan Bates.
