Elma blanks Tenino in soccer

Trace Thompson contributes four goals

Elma rolled to a 7-0 victory over Tenino in an Evergreen 1A League game at Davis Field on April 11.

Trace Thompson led the Eagles (2-1, 3-5-1) with four goals as Elma scored five markers in the first half.

The games first goal came off the rebound of a shot from Thompson when Avery Brown crossed a ball to Alex Salas for what would be the game-winner in the 13th minute. Adonis Torres sent a long pass three minutes later and hit Thompson in stride for a one-touch shot past the goalkeeper.

Thompson headed home his second goal in the 21st minute and fought off a defender to beat the keeper one-on-one in the 32nd minute for the hat trick.

Carlos Bautista added a goal in the 39th minute and A.J. Hernandez came up from his usual spot at goalkeeper to score a goal for the Eagles in the 44th minute.

Thompson ran on to add one more in the 56th minute to cap the scoring for the Eagles.

“We were able to win balls in the midfield and play dangerous balls ahead,” Elma head coach Carson Seaberg said. “It was nice to get a game like this coming out of Spring Break. It was fun for the fans and the kids.”
