Monte’s boys show well in nine-school meet

Monte boys win

Montesano’s boys scored a perfect 15 points, sweeping the top five places in a nine-school meet Thursday at Hoquiam.

Bulldog freshman Martin Shuck took boys individual honors, covering the 5,000-meter course in 18:03. Teammate Braden Stowers was second in 18:12.

Led by individual winner Marissa Bailey, Forks took the top three places in the girls races.

North River produced the top Harbor finishes in the girls race. Freshman Ruby Gumaelius and sophomore Georgia Clark placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Hoquiam coach Carly Giles cited the performances of Tanner McElliott and Maddie German, who both recorded personal bests.
