Bulldogs too big for Wolves, win 41-6

Ridgway led Monte through the air, added two rushing touchdowns

Trevor Ridgway ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more as Montesano thumped Sequim in a non-league game Sept. 8 at Rottle Field.

Ridgway completed 213 yards on 10-of-17 passing as the Bulldogs (2-0) racked up more than 500 yards of total offense. He also intercepted two passes.

Already short-handed due to the knee injury suffered by receiver Dakoyta Reninger last week, the Bulldogs lost ace running back Carson Klinger to a dislocated elbow and receiver Kobe Gallinger to a mild concussion. Klinger’s elbow, however, later popped back into place, prompting optimism that the injury is not serious.

“One thing we’ve done is overcome adversity,” Monte coach Terry Jensen said. “We had guys stepping up and that’s been great. Guys were dropping like flies and we were able to overcome that.”

Ridgway connected with Gallinger on a 10-yard touchdown pass and Kooper Karaffa on a 34-yard scoring strike in the first quarter. He also had TD runs of 1 and 5 yards.

Teegan Zillyett, Montesano’s leading rusher with 146 yards on 15 carries, added a 7-yard TD run to give the Bulldogs a 27-6 halftime lead.

Brent Hollatz scored Monte’s final TD on a 7-yard run late in the third quarter. Jordan King kicked five conversions.

Jensen commended the defensive play of Ridgway, Sam Winter, Shaydon Farmer and Jared Wallace.
