Brumfield rushes for 195 yards and 4 TDs in Elma win

Eagles 29, Warriors 12

Taitum Brumfield rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns as Elma ground out a non-league victory over Rochester on Sept. 29.

The Eagles (2-3) piled up 272 rushing.

“Offensively, we were able to pound the ball and the kids made some key third-down conversions,” Elma coach Ron Clark said. “Every kid on the team played their rear ends off.”

Brumfield’s scoring runs of 3 and 5 yards in the second quarter erased a 6-3 deficit and gave the Eagles a 15-6 halftime lead.

After Rochester closed the margin to three by scoring early in the third quarter, Brumfield added a 7-yard scoring run in the third quarter and a 5-yard TD run in the fourth period.

Elma’s Alejandro Hernandez kicked a 31-yard field goal in the first quarter. Cobey Moore took a conversion pass from Nick Church.

Eagle quarterback Cody Vollan passed for 93 yards and ran for another 64.

Brady Shriver and Brandon Tyler were the leading Elma tacklers.

The Eagles visit Hoquiam on Friday.
