Bighill records sack in Saints win

Montesano High School graduate Adam Bighill recorded four tackles, including a quarterback sack, as the New Orleans Saints blanked the Houston Texans, 13-0, in a National Football League preseason game on Aug. 26 at New Orleans.

A rookie outside linebacker with the Saints after several standout seasons in the Canadian Football League, Bighill is now tied for fourth on the team with nine tackles in three preseason games.

Last week, Bighill netted an interception in a Saints win.

Ashlock aces at Highland

Roger Ashlock of Montesano scored his first hole-in-one Aug. 26 at Grays Harbor Country Club.

Ashlock used a pitching wedge to ace the 120-yard 12th hole. His shot was witnessed by Todd Plato, Jay Zillyett and Phil West. They were competing in the Grays Harbor College golf team fundraising tournament.

The foursome of Jerry Savage, Tony Harris, Kevin Hirsch and Jon Bergstrom with a scramble total of 58. The Betrozoffs — Nicholas, Kenny, Kurt and Norm — placed second with 60.
