Were ghost cows and ghost trains reported in East County

White cow reported in roadway, but when officers arrived, no cow could be seen. Also, railroad crossing alarms were going off without trains in area.

Oct. 10

Stolen vehicle recovered: 300 block of North Second St., Elma. 5:10 a.m.Vehicle pulled over at fire station. Is stolen vehicle. One in custody.

Agency assist: State Route 8 westbound at Mile Post 4, Elma. 11:21 p.m. Washington State Patrol in pursuit of silver Subaru Impreza travelling at 95 mph. Request set up spikes. Speed at 130 mph. Vehicle crashed at Fairgrounds Road. First aid started. Driver ejected. State Patrol advises reason for stop was light violation and driving over the fog line. No plate on vehicle, returns as stolen out of Seattle.

Traffic hazard: Church Road and Elma-Hicklin Road West, McCleary. 3:35 p.m. Second hand report of rail crossing sign malfunction. Signal activated with no train. Tech says crossing is working now.

Oct. 11

Theft: 500 block of Fourth Street West, Elma. 4:28 p.m. Welding leads and iron stolen Oct. 7. Reporting party did not report it when it happened.

Oct. 12

Game violation: 300 block of Wynooche-Wishkah Road, Montesano. 8:32 a.m. Blue ford pickup parked in road. Somebody is shooting a shotgun from inside the vehicle.

Liquor violation: Old Wynooche Road, Mile Post 2, Montesano. 8:27 p.m. Reporting party requests check of loud party. Nature change from noise to liquor.

Oct. 13

Traffic hazard: 100 block of South Bank Road, Elma. 9:52 p.m. White cow seen on edge of roadway. Owner lives nearby. Officer searched area but unable to locate cow.

Animal problem: 100 block of Monte-Elma Road, Montesano. Found white and brown male terrier with a choke collar and no tags. He is friendly, but he has a flea problem.

Malicious mischief in progress: 700 block of North First St., Montesano. 10: 54 p.m. Someone threw a rock through the house window. Reporting party believes it is in retaliation for her son. History of threats to shoot up the house reported last week.

Oct. 14

Theft: 400 block of Boundary Road, Montesano. 7:19 p.m. Subjects cutting firewood on Green Diamond property.
