Richard Meeker “Dick” Elway passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, in Dover, Del. He was 72.

Dick was born March 15, 1945, in Aberdeen, Wash., to the late, Robert & Ella (Meeker) Elway. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Kathleen Fode and brother Daniel Elway. Dick and his surviving brother Michael Elway were co-owners of Elway Plumbing and Heating. He also worked as an accountant for the State of Washington for over 10 years.

Dick served proudly in the United States Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 224, Aberdeen, Wash., and the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2, in Dover. In his free time, Dick loved spending time with his family and friends, shooting pool, solving crossword puzzles, growing Asian Lilies, swimming, clam digging, and was also an avid reader.

Dick is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rose Ann (Eaton) Elway, only daughter, Jennifer D. (Elway) Spana and son-in-law, Gregory Spana, and three adored grandchildren; Griffin, Rosalyn, and Vivian Spana, of Delaware, many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to join Dick’s memorial service taking place at the Elks Lodge in Aberdeen, Wash. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 1 p.m.
