George Thomas Vessey

Elma resident George T. Vessey passed away quietly at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab on Dec. 31, 2017, at the age of 65.

Elma resident George T. Vessey passed away quietly at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab on Dec. 31, 2017, at the age of 65. He was born on Jan. 16, 1952, to parents George and Wanda (Wilson) Vessey in Aberdeen, where he grew up. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1970. George married his beloved wife, Marlys Brenden on Dec. 18, 1976, in McCleary.

He spent many years as a journeyman and master electrician. He was with the IBEW #76 Union and he took great pride in his work. He retired from Enterprise International, where he enjoyed the work and the people. George was also a corpsman in the U.S. Navy.

In his leisure time he was always on the go, farming and tending to his love/ hate relationship with the cows or enjoying the Arizona sun and sand.

He is survived by his wife Marlys of Elma; daughter Shelley (Matt) Rabe of McCleary; brother Dick (Edna Atkinson) Vessey of Elma; sister Darla (Corky) Watkins of Elma; granddaughters Jessica Hardy of Elma and Stephanie Hardy of Olympia, great-granddaughter Preslee Fournier; and numerous nieces and nephews; a close family friend Troy Mikel of Elma and also his beloved dog/lap warmer Cheyanne.

Most people remember him by his hard work, a wink, and wiggling of his mustache.

A celebration of life is being planned for the spring of 2018 and will be announced at a later date.
