State Patrol: Elma woman failed to yeild right of way at Heise Road

Three people were injured in a two-car crash at State Route 8 and Heise Road on April 19, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol.

The report states a 64-year-old Elma woman was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva northbound on Heise Road, about 2 1/2 miles east of Elma, at about 4:15 Thursday afternoon. The investigation indicates the woman turned eastbound onto State Route 8 and struck a black 2005 Saturn Ion driven by a 44-year-old Elma man. The driver of the Saturn was injured, as were 33-year-old and 2-year-old passengers, also of Elma. Another passenger in the Saturn, a 62-year-old Elma man, was not injured. The driver of the Captiva was not injured. The three who were injured were transported by aid car to Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma with undisclosed injuries.

The driver of the Captiva was charged with failure to yield the right of way, according to the State Patrol statement. Everyone involved was wearing seatbelts and drugs or alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash.
