Second victim in fatal McCleary house fire identified

Cause of death, nature and cause of fire remain under investigation

The male victim of the double-fatal house fire in McCleary March 1, has been identified as Shane Gregory, 30, of Lacey, according to Grays Harbor County Coroner Lane Youmans.

The other victim, Jessyca Warness, 25, of McCleary, was identified March 5 via dental records.

Multiple agencies are still investigating the cause and nature of the fire, including the Sheriff’s Office, Aberdeen and Hoquiam police, the Grays Harbor County Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The cause of death for either victim has not been released.

The fire was reported just before 3 a.m. and started in or on a carport attached to the home on Elma-Hicklin Road East just north of McCleary. The fire quickly spread to the main home which burned to the ground with the two victims inside.
