Satsop home destroyed by fire Monday night

Resident, pets made it out safely, fire took more than an hour to knock down

A residence at the end of the 200 block of Newman Middle Branch Road in Satsop was a total loss after a fire late on Monday, Jan. 16.

Grays Harbor Fire District 5 was dispatched to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. Battalion Chief Fullbright was first on the scene and advised the home was full involved. He also saw that the resident was outside the home in the yard. She was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for evaluation for injuries sustained either while exiting the structure or prior to the fire occurring.

The fire was knocked down around 12:38 a.m. with the strong assistance from a full engine company from the Elma Fire Department, and District 5 responders. The home on the property was a total loss; an unattached shop had heavy smoke damage, but was saved from major damage. Crews remained on scene for several hours to confirm there were no hot spots and ensure the fire was completely out. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
