Panhandle Lake camp receives donation from timber company

Donation to be used for repairs and remodeling

Sierra Pacific Industries has donated approximately 2,000 linier feet of lumber to Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp. The camp will use the donation to make repairs to 21 Adirondack cabins and remodel a boathouse.

The Douglas Fir boards, valued at about $750, were made at a Sierra Pacific Industries mill in downtown Shelton. Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp relies on the support of local businesses.

“We especially appreciate contributions from the forest products industry. Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp is the only 4-H Camp in the United States that is also a working tree farm,” stated a press release from Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp.

Celebrating its 70th year, Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp was incorporated in 1948 and is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, nonprofit corporation.

Panhandle Lake 4-H Camp serves 4-H students for both Mason and Grays Harbor counties.
