“In the past few years, we’ve painted the inside of the museum, put new siding on it, replaced the windows and put in a new heating system,” Hooper said.

A crew from A-1 Roofing Inc. works Monday to replace the roof on the Chehalis Valley Historical Society museum in Montesano. The new roof was made possible by donations of $15,000 from both Kelsey Foundation and Greys Harbor Community Foundation. “A-1 Roofing also is putting on new gutters,” museum president Bruce Hooper said. The roof was leaking, especially around the chimney, which A-1 removed this winter. “In the past few years, we’ve painted the inside of the museum, put new siding on it, replaced the windows and put in a new heating system,” Hooper said. Through all the changes, the museum has remained open. It’s hours are noon-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It also is available for tours. Find out more about the museum at
