Monte’s Bergstrom serves as page

Pages assist members of the state Legislature.

Thomas Bergstrom, a freshman at Montesano High School, recently served as a page in the Washington state House of Representatives. Sponsored by state Rep. Brian Blake (D-Aberdeen), Thomas is the son of Vini Samuel and Guy Bergstrom of Montesano.

Pages perform many responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the House floor. In addition to contributing to the efficient operation of the Legislature, pages spend two hours each day in a classroom setting learning about the legislative process.

“It’s always a pleasure to host students from the 19th District as House pages,” said Rep. Blake. “Some are students I enjoy getting to know and others are kids like Thomas who I’ve watched growing up. Giving all of these kids a first-hand look at their democracy is important to those students, to their parents and to our community.”
