Gala in Elma April 21 will help raise money for students

Elma Flight Foundation event at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds

Elma students to benefit from gala

The Elma Flight Foundation — a nonprofit organization formed from a need to provide Elma students with the support and supplies they need in school — will host the Take Flight Gala complete with live music by local artists, a catered dinner and fundraising auction April 21 at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds.

Tickets are $50 per person and are available at Elma Pharmacy, Les Schwab, Our Community Credit Union or by contacting any of the organization’s board members. The cutoff date for ticket purchase is Thursday, April 19.

Dinner will be catered by Ken and Marilyn Drake, and the Westport Winery will be hosting a wine bar. The event begins at 6 p.m. in the Mike Murphy Pavilion at the Fairgrounds.

This annual benefit event will be held to raise financial support for this project. Donors can contribute at multiple levels of financial commitment. Auction items include a kayak and breakfast donated by Tugboat Annie’s restaurant in Olympia, makeup tips by a professional makeup artist, handmade gravity blankets, an evening of child care for up to 20 kids, assorted baskets and a cord of firewood.

All money contributed will go directly to student level support. No community money will pay for program administrative costs. Funds will be set aside in a tax-deductible, non-profit private purpose fund, exclusively earmarked for the Elma Flight Foundation, and governed by a community-based board of directors.
