Funeral homes sending stockings to soldiers

Harrison Family Morturary organizes Christmas stocking program for service members, veterans

Harrison Family Morturary is encouraging the community to send the troops and local veterans a little taste of home for the holidays.

Harrison Family Mortuary is one of more than 800 exclusive Veterans and Family Memorial Care (VFMC) funeral home providers across America participating in the ninth annual VFMC Christmas Stockings for Soldiers initiative.

Through Dec. 1 stop in to the funeral home and pick up a free Christmas stocking to take home, decorate and stuff with Christmas cheer. With the stocking, participants will receive a list of recommended items along with the free stocking.

Harrison Family Mortuary will ship the stockings to troops abroad.

“Providing our heroes with some good tidings and holiday cheer is a great way for us to show our support and appreciation for the sacrifices they make to keep our country safe and secure,” said Colleen Harrison of Harrison Family Mortuary.

Stockings will be available at the funeral home on Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The funeral home also is accepting donations of old cell phones.

Harrison Family Mortuary is located at 130 South First Street in Montesano and also at 311 W. Market Street in Aberdeen. For more information call (360) 533-8864.
