Fair gearing up for summer party

Tickets are starting to go on sale and people are invited to enter the talent show and poster contests.

The Grays Harbor County Fair is a little over two months away and things are starting to heat up in Elma.

TALENT CONTEST

The 39th edition of the Fair’s Talent Show is looking for musicians, performers, comedians and entertainers of all sorts, solo or groups.

Auditions for the talent show are 6-7 p.m. June 12 and 1-2 p.m. June 15 in the Pavilion Exhibit Hall. For those people who advance, the Talent Show is 6 p.m. Aug. 9 on the Custom Security Stage. There are three age groups, 6- to 12-year-olds, 13- to 17-year-olds and 18 years old and older. First place winners in each division receive $150. The runner-up in each group will get $75.

The contest is open to any act from Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific or Thurston counties.

POSTER CONTEST

Jodesha Broadcasting, Inc. is sponsoring this year’s Student Art Poster Contest for the Fair. There are three divisions: Kindergarten through second grade; third, fourth and fifth grades; and a division for sixth- through eighth-graders. Top entries can win cash prizes.

All entries will be on display during the fair. Students who enter are eligible for $3 single-day passes.

Entries are due by July 6. The theme of this year’s Fair is “How Country Feels.”

ADVANCED TICKETS

Golden Circle tickets for performances by Lorrie Morgan and Randy Houser as well as Carnival Wrist Bands are on sale now at ghcfairgrounds.com.

Golden Circle tickets include fair admission and a seat in one of the first three rows.

Houser’s album “How Country Feels” went gold with hits including the title track, “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” and “Goodnight Kiss.” He will play at 8 p.m. Aug. 7 on the Pepsi Stage. Golden Circle tickets to Houser’s show are $50 to $100.

Morgan has had three No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks charts: “Five Minutes,” What Part of No” and “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.”

Her records have sold millions of copies worldwide. She will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 8 on the Pepsi Stage. Golden Circle tickets for Morgan’s show are $30 to $40.
