Monte’s second fish and brew festival set for Sept. 30

Beer garden and entertainment to start upon conclusion of fishing derby

Fishing and frolics through the beer garden are sure to be seen at Montesano’s second Catch Montesano Fish and Brew Fest set to take place Sept. 30 at Friends Landing and Fleet Park in Montesano.

The event this year is scheduled to take place over the course of a single day as opposed to last year when it was split between the beer garden on Friday and the fishing derby on Saturday. Weigh-ins for the derby start at 8 a.m. Sept. 30 at Friends Landing and go until 4 p.m. Then, participants are encouraged to head to Fleet Park in Montesano for derby results and the beer garden. Cash prizes for the derby include a $1,000 grand prize, $300 for second place and $200 for third place.

All contestants must provide a valid Washington State Fishing License and a valid Washington State Salmon Card showing the catch properly recorded before entering a fish in the derby. Derby tickets are $20 and additional official derby rules can be found on the Montesano Chamber of Commerce website (www.montesanochamber.org).

The expanded beer garden will be open 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will include wine, live music and food vendors. Performers include the Chris Eakes and Shannon Delong Duo at 5 p.m., DAMP Radio at 6:30 p.m. and Chris Guenther from 8 to 10 p.m. Returning again this year is the cornhole tournament.

Tickets are $15 in advance and include a keepsake glass and drink tickets.

This year the Chamber has partnered with the Port of Grays Harbor to offer a 5-K fun run and 1.7 mile walk. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the race and walk begin at 9 a.m.

Vendors can sign up for the event through Sept. 27 and those who are interested should contact Brooke Chapman at brooke@ghbearcats.com. Tickets are available at Bulldog Lanes, Monte Square, Fishin’ Hole, Timberland Bank (Montesano branch) Our Community Credit Union (Montesano branch) and Monte Quick Stop.
