Local museum gets new name in honor of Pat Clemons

Reception on Jan. 14

One doesn’t have to live in Montesano long before they learn the name of Patricia “Pat” Clemons.

Clemons is a lifelong resident of Montesano, and she’s known as the town’s “unofficial historian.”

In the recent past, Clemons was asked to research and compile a list of all the past mayors of Montesano, and in 2016, The Vidette went to Clemons for a history of local tree farms.

Now in her 90s, “Clemons has been witness to much of Montesano’s recent history,” The Vidette reported.

Montesano is giving back to Clemons for all of her past efforts in the name of local history.

On Jan. 14, the Chehalis Valley Historical Museum in Montesano will be renamed “Pat Clemons Chehalis Valley Historical Museum.”

A reception will be held at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center (800 N. Medcalf Lane in Montesano) where Clemons currently resides. The reception begins at 2:30 p.m. and the public is invited.
