• Stone Soup Artists open mic, every Tuesday, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at Organics 101 Market in Montesano (316 S. Main St.). Unplugged acoustic originals.

• A featured artist, duo or small group will perform at 9 p.m. every Thursday at Charlie’s Sports Bar in Montesano. To sign up as an artist, contact Wil Russoul, (360) 500-5334.

• Bilingual Storytime. Thursdays, 4 – 4:30 p.m. at Elma Timberland Library. Both Spanish speakers and English speakers are encourage to attend.

• The Board of Commissioner of Grays Harbor Hospital District 1 will meet at 6 p.m. at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma (600 E. Main St.).

Friday, Oct. 28

Event

• Grays Harbor College and the Grays Harbor Institute present “The Nation Within: Sovereignty, treaties and our future” at 7 p.m. in room 4134 of the Schermer Building on the college’s campus. Quinault Indian Nation President Fawn Sharp will discuss the history and heritage of the nation and the coastal region.

Saturday, Oct. 29

Events

• The 16U Lady Bulldogs fastpitch team will host a Zombie Fun Run at 4 p.m. at Fleet Park in Montesano. Registration is $20 for adults, $15 for teens, $10 for kids (9 and younger are free). Extra flags are $10. Costumes encouraged.

• Elma, McCleary, Montesano and Oakville Timberland Libraries present “Murder in the Library: A Life-Sized Clue Mystery,” 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., for teens, at the Elma Timberland Library.

• McCleary Timberland Library presents “The Boys of ‘36” documentary movie, 11 a.m. to noon, for teens and adults.

Monday, Oct. 31

Events

• Elma Chamber of Commerce and downtown businesses present the 18th annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• Montesano’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Look for a sign in the windows of participating businesses.

• Montesano High School’s Associated Student Body will sponsor the annual Haunted Hallways event, 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. at the school. Games and treats.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

Events

• Montesano Fire Department hosts an open house (310 E. Pioneer Ave.), 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Includes tours, hot dogs, soda, fire safety information and emergency vehicles on display. For more information, call the fire department, (360) 249-4851.

Thursday, Nov. 3

Meetings

• Coffee Club, 11 a.m. to noon, at Edward Jones-Brandon Kilnger’s office, 211 S. Main St., Montesano.

• The Robert Grays Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at the United Methodist Church in Hoquaim (5th Street at L Street). Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. (bring a sack lunch) and the meeting beings at noon. Bring supplies to fill Christmas stockings.

• Musical “James and the Giant Peach” at the Bishop Center for Performing Arts at Grays Harbor College, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 adults, $12 seniors, $10 students and $6 for children ages 12 and under. Also on Saturday, Nov. 5. Matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Events

• Elma Middle School fundraiser featuring a dinner, basket raffle and silent auction, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Eagles (404 W. Young St., Elma). Tickets for the baked potato dinner are $7 and may be purchased from the EMS office, EMS students or at the door. Prizes donated from local businesses and organizations.

• Montesano High School will hold its annual Veterans Day assembly at 9 .m. The assembly will be preceded by breakfast for veterans beginning at 8:30 a.m. All veterans are welcome. RSVP at aekerson@monteschools.org or call (360) 249-4041.

• Elma Veterans’ Day parade at 1 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Elma with memorial service at Veterans Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Veterans’ Day luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elma Grange (Fourth and Waldrip). Cost for lunch is $5 or free for parade participants.
