Neither rain nor sleet stops them from caring

Letter to the Editor from Montesano Food Bank director

Recently the Post Office had their Stamp Out Hunger campaign with the proceeds going to the Montesano Food Bank. The local letter carriers delivered the mail and collected nonperishable food donations on May 11. We don’t have an official weight of the donations, but we estimate it at about 3,000 pounds. Not bad for a one day event!

The Montesano Food Bank wants to thank the Post Office for their successful food drive and all the residents who donated. We figure the value of the donations total approximately $5,000. That includes some cash donations. This community is very generous and the generosity does not go unnoticed. The Montesano Food Bank is supported entirely on donations and could not exist without the community donations, so thank you for your support.

There are about 20 volunteers who participate at the Montesano Food Bank. Every cent that is donated goes toward operating the Food Bank. There are no paid staff we have a very dedicated group who donate their time to help those in this community who need a little extra help. So, once again thank you for your support.
