From dunk tanks to crafts, live music to casino night, Montesano's Festival of People will have something for everyone this year.

After a seven-year hiatus, the Festival returns for the second year in a row July 26-27, 2002, offering several activities and events for all ages.

"It's primarily for the community," Carol Smith of the Montesano Chamber of Commerce said. "It's a celebration intended to get the community together."

Much of the activities will again take place in or around Fleet Park, including the dunk tank, farmer's market and arts and crafts.

Throughout town, visitors can also watch and participate in softball, volleyball and cribbage tournaments, as well as a chili cook-off or watch the parade down Main Street.

Sponsored by the Montesano Community Center and Montesano Visitor Information Center, the Festival will offer lots of good food and fun for participants.

"For anyone from out of town, with relatives here, it's an opportunity to get together and see who they haven't seen in a long time," Smith said.
