Montesano School Board President Lori Blanchard had just one
thing to say about the election results for a $19.25 million
bond issue Tuesday night at the Auditor's Office.
"YAY!"
Proposition 1, the $16.13 million proposal to build a new Simpson
School, modernize Beacon School, and re-roof the Junior/Senior
High School and the gym, is passing with 66.5 percent of the
vote, 1,358 to 682.
"I'm just so excited and so very grateful that people recognized
the need," Blanchard said. "I think they will see that
it truly is a plan that will benefit everyone."
Superintendent Marti Harruff said she was "ecstatic." |

Lifelong Montesanan
and lifelong reader

Carol Brumfield has been going to the Monte library since she
was a little tot. Now at 26, she's not about to stop - in fact,
she's there full time.
In January, Brumfield, a Montesano resident virtually her entire
life, was hired full time as the new children's librarian at
the cozy W.H. Abel Memorial Timberland Library, where she first
met Ramona in Beverly Cleary's books - "I read every single
one" - and Maurice Sendak's wild things. |

2A Evergreen Baseball
By Jerrad Kellogg
Vidette Reporter
Narrowly missing early mercy rule endings in both games, the
Montesano Bulldogs easily rolled over visiting Toledo, 13-5 and
9-0, in a 1A Evergreen League baseball double header Thursday,
April 19, at Vessey Park.
This was the first home-stand of the season for the Bulldogs,
who previously had a problem with the back-stop netting and were
unable to play at Vessey until now. And in their first home appearance
Montesano cruised to victory behind a solid offensive performance
in which they out-hit Toledo 31-8 over the two games.

Montesano's Cody Martin legs out an infield hit to
the third baseman in the opening game of the doubleheader to
lead-off the Bulldog's first inning at bat, in which they went
on to push Martin, Frank Carpenter and Tyler Fry around the bases.
