• The Elma High School class of 1969 will host its 40th reunion at 5 p.m. at the Microtel Inn. A picnic will follow at noon Sunday, July 26, at the McCleary City Park. Members of the classes of ’68 and ’70 are invited to join the picnic. The main dish and tableware will be provided; guests are asked to bring their own beverage, potluck item and lawn chair. • The Elma School District will sponsor the summer food service program each weekday for low-income, attending children under 19. Lunch will be served from noon to 12:30 p.m. July 6-24 at the middle school cafeteria, 805 Main St. There is no charge; the school district says children who eat in a safe place and participate in summer activities are more likely to stay out of trouble.

• The 64th annual Long Beach Rodeo will take place at 1 p.m. each day at the rodeo grounds, 6407 Sandridge Road. The Northwest Professional Rodeo performances will feature many different areas of competition. Cost is $10 per adult and $9 for children ages 5-12 and seniors. Parking is free.

• The Port Townsend Arts Commission and Northwind Arts Alliance are seeking submissions for their 11th annual Port Townsend Juried Art Competition which takes place Oct. 2-Nov. 1. Artists must be at least 16 years old and a resident of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska or British Columbia. Art can be in both two- and three-dimensional forms, including photography. A total of $2,595 cash prizes will be awarded. Merchandise awards will also be presented. The deadline to submit an entry form is Aug. 10; a non-refundable entry fee of $35 is required for a maximum of three digital or printed image entries (no slides) per artist. • A photography and digital art show, “Grays Harbor’s Scenic Waterways,” by Kathleen Praxel will be on exhibit at the Amanda Park Timberland Library. The photographs feature local areas as well as “powwows,” which have been picked up by several magazines.

• For those expecting a baby due before Oct. 1, a childbirth class will be offered from 6:30-9 p.m. Thursdays, in room 308. The six-week class will cover topics such as what to feed your baby before and after birth, epidurals and analgesics for pain relief in labor, a hospital tour and more. • Arts and crafts will take place in the covered picnic area of the McCleary Park for children ages 5-8 from 1-2 p.m.; children 9-12 from 2-3 p.m., and teens from 3-4 p.m. All materials will be supplied, however it can be messy; students should come in clothes that can get paint on them. Crafts will feature painting, bead creations, mosaics, foam art, crepe paper creations and others. Teen and adult volunteers are welcome; there is no charge to attend.

• The McCleary Food Bank is open from 9:30 to 11 a.m. the second and fourth Mondays of each month, across from the fire station on the park side downtown. Anyone who lives in the 98557 zip code is welcome.

• The Mark Reed Foundation Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the Hospital, 322 S. Birch St. The meeting is open to the public to learn about the mission and activities of the foundation.

• The annual Friends Landing Jamboree will take place beginning at noon with a barbecue lunch. There will also be balloons for children, flowers for the ladies and music by Dave Glenn and the Music Factory musicians. Children will be able to fish in the newly built fish pond; workers will be on hand to help bait hooks and land those big ones. There is no cost for the barbecue, but donations to help cover the costs will be greatly appreciated. • The Very Reverend Victor Atta-Baffoe, the Dean of St. Nicholas Seminary in Cape Coast, Ghana, will visit St. Mark Episcopal Church from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Everyone is invited; light refreshments and beverages will be served. The reverend serves on the Anglican Covenant Design Group for the worldwide Anglican Church, and is the Canon for Education for the Diocese of the Cape Coast.
