DETERMINATION OF NON-SIGNIFICANCE (DNS)
Case #2009-1262
Adoption for: DNS
Description of current proposal: The proposal is for field-testing various pontoon construction methods and techniques for the State Route 520 Floating Bridge pontoon construction project. The work will include constructing mock-up pontoon sections and testing different concrete mixes and forming methods. This will require placement of approximately 1200 cubic yards of concrete. The project site is an existing industrial site that is approximately 6.5 acres in size, with two concrete pads sitting on compacted gravel and structural fill. A cure water treatment and retention pond and connecting drainage ditch will be constructed to sample cure water. An additional concrete pad will be poured to provide casting pads for precast sections of the pontoon mockup. This may also require a small quantity of fill to level the area where the pad will be poured. The project site will be returned to pre-existing conditions when the project is completed in January of 2010. Concrete pontoon elements cast on site will be demolished and removed for disposal.
