• Artist Ken Hurley will be at a reception in his honor from noon to 4 p.m. at Clyde & Sylvia’s Frames-N-Things, 113 E. Wishkah St. Hurley will demonstrate his talents, and one of his original pieces of art will be given to the winner of the prize drawing.

• The Dance Club of Grays Harbor will host a dance party with music by the Country 4 from 1:30-4:30 pm. at the Eagles Hall, 200 W. Market St. Cost is $6 per person and includes refreshments.

• “Sounds of Christmas,” a luncheon and program for women of all ages, will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Rotary Log Pavilion. The Goldenaires of Weatherwax High School, directed by Pat Wilhelms, will be featured. Lois Williams of Lacey will speak about keepsakes. Students will have the choice of making grape vine, artificial evergreen or fresh evergreen wreaths. Students should bring any extra embellishments and scissors. Saturday, Nov. 28
• The Marina Merchants of Westport will sponsor Holiday Happenings in Westport. The event will kick off with a scavenger hunt; first prize will be a seahorse metal sculpture with a value of $250, donated from Art at the Dock. There are about 20 merchants participating in the scavenger hunt, and all have donated prizes of at least $25. To participate in the hunt, pick up a map at McCausland Hall in the Maritime Museum after 11 a.m. and return it by 4:30 p.m.; prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m. A cookie walk is also planned from 2-4 p.m. at McCausland Hall. Caroling by local musicians will begin at 4 p.m. on the front porch at the museum. Shortly after the scavenger hunt prizes are awarded, a brief tree-lighting ceremony by the Westport mayor will take place in the gazebo, followed by more music from the barbershop quartet, In Faith.

• Grays Harbor County Public Hospital District No. 1 commissioners will have a special meeting at 6 p.m., due to Thanksgiving, in the convention center at Microtel Inn. The agenda includes a hearing on the proposed budget for 2010.

• The Elma Grange will host a holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Lunch will be served, and the money from the table rentals and lunch sales will be used for a scholarship for a student graduating from Elma High School this year.

• Elma Eagles No. 1440 will host a free Thanksgiving dinner, open to the East County public, from 1 to 3 p.m. at their building at 404 W. • “Hamlet in the House,” performed by the Grays Harbor College Theatre Arts Department, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
