Saturday, Nov. 7
• Artist Ken Hurley will demonstrate his talents from noon to 4 p.m. at Clyde & Sylvia Frames-N-Things. As the featured artist of the month, he has participated in many local festivals, showing his oil paintings, watercolors and drawings of the West. Guests will have the chance to enter to win a piece of art he will complete during his November show. Frames-N-Things is located at 113 E. Wishkah St.
Thursday, Nov. 12
• “Count Your Blessings,” a luncheon and program for women of all ages will be offered at 11:30 a.m. at the Rotary Log Pavilion. The program, hosted by Grays Harbor Christian Women’s Connection and sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries, will specially feature Quilt Harbor Too, music by Becky Small of Camp Shiloh and speaker Lynn Hansen of Beaverton, Ore., on “A Story of Victory.” Cost is $12, and is all-inclusive. Reservations and cancellations are required, call Jeanette at 532-7998 or Linda at 532-3129. Complimentary daycare for ages 1 to 12 will be provided by reservation.
Sunday, Nov. 15
• The Dance Club of Grays Harbor will host “593 Singers Dance Party” from 1-5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1712 S. Boone St. Arlene Hoiland will teach a dance lesson from 1-2 p.m. Cost is $5 per person. Dancing will take place from 2-5 p.m. For more information on the lesson, call (360) 532-2211.

Friday-Sunday, Nov. 13-15

• “Sweeten a Child’s Life,” the Grayland Children’s Hospital Guild’s annual artisan show will take place from 2-7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Tokeland Hotel. Local and regional vendors will offer artwork and crafts. There will also be several raffle items; winners will receive the items Sunday afternoon. The hotel will also serve meals. All profits will go to support uncompensated care of patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital. For more information, call Elenore at (360) 267-7872.
Saturday, Nov. 14
•James Clarkson, UFO investigator, will present a report of his in-depth examination of the Elk River UFO crash retrieval incident of 1979, along with highlights from the seventh annual UFO Crash Retrieval Conference at 1 p.m. at Westport Timberland Library, 101 E. Harms Ave. Clarkson has completed ongoing and specialized training from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in criminal investigation and police operations. He retired from the Aberdeen Police Department after 20 years.

• A wreath making class will be taught by Sherrie Rust and Jaymie Towle from noon to 3 p.m. at Westport Winery. Cost is $55 and will include a hearty lunch and all wreath-making supplies. Students will have the choice of making grape vine, artificial evergreen or a fresh evergreen wreath. Students should bring any extra embellishments and scissors. Space is limited and reservations are required, call the winery at 648-2224.

• The Fire District Board of Commissioners will host a budget hearing during a special meeting at 6 p.m. at the district’s Satsop station, 1003 Monte Elma Road. The hearing is open to the public.

• A community salmon bake will be offered at 1 p.m. at Schafer State Park. Guests are invited to sit around the fire in the Community Hall while salmon and hot beverages are served. • A free workshop to help local farmers and landowners minimize losses in the event of a natural disaster is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Dog Barn. The free workshop will feature presenters including the director of Oregon’s Department of Geology and Minerals Industry, Chuck Wallace, Deputy Director of Grays Harbor County’s Emergency Management Services, and others. Lunch will be provided by the Sharon Grange.

• A public meeting to discuss the Montesano Downtown Plan will take place from 6-8:30 p.m. at the city hall. The ideas of members of the community along with consultants for downtown Montesano will be presented.
• GriefShare recovery seminar and support group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Church of God, 317 E. Spruce St. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief and recovery topics. The topic to be discussed will be “Heaven.” The only cost for the series is $12 for the manual. Over 25 students from grades 7-12 will perform this student directed show. Cost is $5 per person.

• A second planning workshop that will lead to land use plans for Lake Sylvia and Schafer state parks will take place form 7-9 p.m. at the Montesano City Hall, 112 N. Main St. The workshop will follow up on comments from park visitors and community members from the first stage of the process.
Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 23-24
• A two-day AARP Driver Safety Class has been scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Montesano Timberland Library. Participants 55 and older who complete the course will qualify for a reduction in their insurance premium. Drivers under 55 may also qualify — check with your insurance company. Cost is $14 per person and AARP members can receive a $2 discount with proof of membership. Class size is limited and can fill quickly, so pre-registration is required. • Everyone is invited to the “Feast For Friends” at the Montesano Community Center, 120 W. Marcy.
