• The Grays Harbor Chapter of the Washington State Music Teachers Association invites all to its annual gala event — the musicale scholarship benefit concert — at 7:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Fourth St. and Broadway. Performers include The Sylvan Quartet, featuring Tim Nelson on the flugelhorn, Virginia Nelson on the bassoon, Jennifer Irving on the oboe and Susan Lundquist on the piano; Kelsey Jobst, French horn soloist and 2009 scholarship recipient; Kyndal Meister, piano soloist and 2009 scholarship recipient; Livin’ Harmony, a male barbershop quartet featuring Jim Thomas as the lead, Jim Daly as tenor, Dave Seymour as baritone and Ken Born as bass. Proceeds from the performance fund scholarships for college music majors and minors from Grays Harbor and Pacific counties; donations will be gratefully accepted. A reception featuring gourmet desserts will follow the performance.
• “Hearts and Roses,” a lunch program for women of all ages, will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Rotary Log Pavilion. The program will feature the Popcorn Factory, music by Roberta Cleland and Mary Elmore, and Roxanne Bowman of Florence, Ore., speaking on “Creating a Mold for Success.” Cost is $12, and all-inclusive. The program is hosted by the Grays Harbor Christian Women’s Connection and sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries.

• The Dance Club of Grays Harbor will host a 593 Singers Dance Party from 1-7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1712 S. Boone St. Arlene Hoiland will teach a waltz dance mixer from 1-2 p.m. Dancing to the music of the 593 Singers will take place from 2-5 p.m. Cost is $5 per person with light refreshments. A sweethearts supper buffet will be served from 4-7 p.m. in the 593 Café featuring prime rib, chicken cordon bleu, prawns and more. Cost is $15.95; reservations are required by Friday, Feb. 12.

• The Rotary Club of East Grays Harbor will host its fourth annual Pair of Hearts Ball at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino. A social hour begins at 6 p.m., with a prime rib buffet dinner following at 7 p.m. The ball will feature silent and live auctions and live music. Tickets are $35 each if purchased by Jan. 29 at Grays Harbor Radio in Aberdeen, Timberland Bank in Montesano or Foothills Massage in Elma. Half of the proceeds will benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of Grays Harbor.

• Westport Winery will host a Valentine’s dinner at 6:30 p.m. both nights. • Grays Harbor Republicans will participate in pooled caucuses in Aberdeen, Cosmopolis, Hoquiam, Montesano, Westport, Elma, Central Park, McCleary, Ocean Shores/North Beach, Oakville and Quinault. Delegates will be elected to the Grays Harbor Republican county convention on Saturday, April 10, in Aberdeen. At the convention, delegates will be elected to attend the state convention June 10-12, in Vancouver. All Republicans are invited to attend near their precinct. • The Hoquiam High School Drama Club will perform a musical production of “Once Upon a Mattress” at the 7th Street Theatre. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday. • An AARP driver safety program will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days at the Hoquiam Timberland Library. The class will cover a wide range of driving situations, including normal age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. There are no tests; cost is $12 for AARP members (proof of membership is required) and $14 for nonmembers. Drivers 55 and older will qualify for a reduction in their insurance premiums; drivers under 55 may also qualify; check with your insurance company.
